Where does the term Blog come from?
The term blog originates from the phrase “weblog”, which was coined by Jorn Barger in 1997. “Weblog” was used to describe a personal website where someone would log or record their thoughts, links, and updates in a diary-like format. Later, in 1999, Peter Merholz humorously broke the word “weblog” into “we blog” on his own site. This playful shortening caught on, and soon, “blog” became the widely accepted term for personal and professional online journals. Since then, blogging has evolved into a mainstream activity, covering everything from personal reflections to corporate content marketing, news, and niche interests.
